Cheap hotels in Bangkok, Thailand

Western tourists have had no problem finding cheap hotels in Bangkok. Ideas for the basic rules of accommodation vary depending on where you come from. Better facilities than Houston’s Hiram and Hettie Hano’s Han can be expected – or even Henry and Hannah from Harrogate (UK). Let him drive. A luxury Western-style stay to be sure on one of the popular western chains. The only problem is that they can be very expensive. And, let’s say, stay at a Hilton or Marriott in Bangkok and maybe even New York, London or Cairo.

You want to stay in Bangkok, right? The good news is that there are many independent hotels in Bangkok that offer affordable prices. Who needs a closet, after all? Pendants are the most important part – right?

You will probably know that Bangkok is the capital and first city of Thailand. It is called Thai Krung Thep Maha Nakhon (or Krung Thep In short, it means “city of angels”). Bangkok has a population of over six million. The main religion is Buddhism, with the exception of 5% of the city’s population. Most of the remains are Muslims with a scattering of Christians. Bangkok is a block of temples and gardens, and let’s not forget (the thriving sex industry). One of the strengths of Bangkok is the wonderful blend of ancient Thai culture and Western-style capitalism.

This is my personal selection of the best cheap hotel (Bangkok):

New side of the Siam River

21 Soi Chanasongkram Phra-A-Thit Road, Chanasongkram, Phranakorn, Bangkok 10200.

Here is an inn with wonderful views, next to the Chaophaya River, very close to the Grand Palace. It has air conditioning, a café, a suitable restaurant and a large swimming pool. As with most good Thai hotels, the beds are made of rubber. All rooms have night control, cable TV and a refrigerator. High speed Wi-Fi is available in all rooms. It is forbidden to smoke in all rooms.

Be careful when booking because the New Siam River Side has two other “branches”. Room prices start at 1390 baht (single). In other accommodations, air-conditioned rooms with a fan only start at 590 baht ($ 20).

Silom City Hotel

2 Soi Prachum (Silom 22), Silom Road, Bangkok 10500

Formerly known as the Silom City Inn, this hotel can be found in the heart of Bangkok’s business center, close to all the major shopping malls. Silom City nightlife and major shopping malls and Suan Lumpini Park, Bangkok Railway Terminal and a short walk along the river. It has 70 guest rooms, all with air conditioning, safe, computer and fax connections, home music system, satellite color TV and bathroom. The advertised weekly rate starts at 1,150 baht per night (about $ 40) in a single room, but we have been told that the exchange is possible.

920-926 Rama4 Rd. (Surawongse Junction, Association Against the Red Cross), Silom District, Bangrak 10500,

The weird name TakeANap is a family hotel with its fanatical fans. Single, double and twin bedroom beds are mixed, starting at 350 baht per night ($ 12). The singles have about 1,000 baht ($ 34). Great for backpackers, not so good for business travelers or families with tourists. They have 30 double and twin rooms with different themes, most of which are designed to give you a headache after too much beer! TakeANap is very central, just a few meters from the sky train (BTS) and the metro (MRT). TakeaNap is also close to nightclubs, the city center and the market area. Cabinet freaks should keep in mind that the rooms have their favorite furniture, but with hangers and a rail. You will be very lucky to get the fridge,

Sivalai Place

168 Isaraphab Soi 33 Isaraphab rd Thra Pra Bangkok-Yai Bangkok 10600 Thailand

This home offers tremendous value to anyone on a budget. Smart studio apartments are priced at 1,450 baht per night (less than $ 50) and double apartments are only 100 baht. Expect queen beds and restrooms with bathrooms with shower panels equipped with six massage jets. The facilities are better than the average in Bangkok, ranging from a fully equipped karaoke room to tennis, restaurants, cafes and a huge chlorine-free pool. There is a sauna, a “good karma” library and a well-equipped games room. Sivalai Palace is highly recommended.

These are my recommended cheap hotels in Bangkok style. Have fun and let us know if you find another gem.
